Our Story

It started with a trip to Zanzibar, a family recipe box, and a name borrowed from an East African tradition of calling parents after their eldest child. Mama Amaya's is still, at heart, a family cooking together.

Where the Day Ends, Together

On Zanzibar's Swahili Coast, evenings end the same way they always have — dhows sailing home at sunset, family waiting at the water's edge. That same instinct to gather, to share a meal with whoever's around the table, is what we've tried to bottle.

Introducing Mama Amaya's.

All great recipes have a story.

Ours begins in Tanzania.

6 Years ago this year, I met my fiancee, Janet, in Zanzibar. When our daughter Amaya was born, family and friends started calling her Mama Amaya. A beautiful Swahilli tradition of naming parents after their eldest child.

That name became the inspiration for this brand.

For years, we've shared our recipes with family and friends around our table. Now, we're ready to share them with you.

Mama Amaya's represents family.
Adventure.
Hospitality.
And the incredible flavours that inspired us along the way.

This is only the beginning.

Karibu. Welcome to our kitchen.

Some flavours instantly transport you somewhere.

Island Sauce was inspired by the tropical flavours of the East African coast, where sweet fruit, fresh ingredients and fiery chillies come together in every bite.

Built around juicy pineapple and fiery habaneros, it's bright, tangy and unapologetically fruit-forward.

Sweet enough to keep you coming back.

Hot enough to remind you it's there.

Drizzle it over grilled chicken, seafood, tacos or roasted vegetables, glaze a BBQ, or stir it into a marinade for a tropical kick.

This isn't sunshine in a bottle...

It's sunshine with attitude.

Karibu. Welcome to our kitchen.

From our family table to yours.

#hotsauceINTRODUCING: JUNGLE SAUCE.

Built around fresh chillies, plenty of garlic and a carefully balanced blend of herbs and spices, Jungle Sauce is all about flavour before fire.

Fresh.
Sweet.
Garlicky.
Bold.
And yes... it definitely brings the heat.

Splash it over grilled meat, spoon it onto fish, spread it in a sandwich, use it as a dip, or stir it into a curry or stew when it needs a kick.

Once you try it, you will keep coming back for more.
